1935 – Opening of the textiles unit (Valisère) in Santo André, SP
1942 – Implementation of sugarcane production for ethanol chemistry in Paulínia, SP
1945 – Purchase of the Indústria Brasileira de Óculos e Lentes, the foundation for Rhodia Plásticos de Engenharia (Rhodia Engineering Plastics)
1946 – Founding of Rhodosá, rayon textile company, in São José dos Campos, SP
1949 – Start up of activities in Uruguay , as a pharmaceutical laboratory
1955 – Production begins of nylon cord and fibers (polyamide) in Santo André, SP
1956 – Implementation of the Paulínia chemicals facility
1957 – Production begins of tire cord
1958 – Opening of the vinyl acetate unit, the first industrial activity in Paulínia
1960 – With Rhodia as its main supporter, the Brazilian fashion industry is born through the Fenit fashion shows
1961 – Establishment in Mexico , focusing on the pharmaceutical market. Beginning of the first mutual credit cooperative (credit for individuals) in the state of São Paulo , the Cooperativa da Rhodia Química
1967 – Production of filter tow
1968 – Production of nylon 6.6 polymers and launch of the acrylic glass plant for textile products
1969 – Founding of the Instituto Veterinário Rhodia-Mérieux
1960s – Beginning of the internship and trainee programs at Rhodia, a pioneering initiative in the industry
1970 – Start up of the phenol and derivatives plant in Paulínia (SP), consolidating Rhodia's industrial complex in the region
1975 – Start up of the Paulínia Research Center , in the State of São Paulo.
1977 – Beginning of silicone production in Brazil . Increase in ethanol chemistry with the beginning of production in the acetic acid and ethyl acetate facilities
1978 – Opening of the silica plant in Brazil
1980 – Supply begins of epoxy bisphenol for the paints and adhesive market
1981 – Implementation of the consumer value project and implementation of the first ombudsman service in the industry
1980/1985 – Enlargement and consolidation of the Rhodia industrial complex in Paulínia.
1986 – Start up the salicylic acid unit
1988 – Rhodia establishes itself in Guatemala , trading in agricultural chemicals
1989 – Beginning of business activities in Chile . Beginning of the polycarbonate bisphenol unit to supply the engineering plastics market.
1992 – Beginning of the pioneering production in Brazil of nylon microfibers for textile applications. Merger with the Venezuelan acetate producer Mantex Saica, which resulted in Rhodia Acetow Venezuela . Signing of the Responsible Care treaty defined by the worldwide chemicals industry
1994 – Creation of Rhodia-Ster
1995 – Beginning of surfactant production in Santo André
1998 – The name Rhodia, used only in Brazil and Germany , becomes the worldwide name for the company, joining together the chemicals and fibers and polymers activities. Production begins of the first “intelligent” (with functions) fibers, and launch of the Amni brand concept. Acquisition of the sodium bicarbonate unit in Florencio Varela ( Argentina ) and start up of business activities in Colombia
1999 –Business activities begin in Peru
2000 – Business activities established in Ecuador . Rhodia Sílices Venezuela is created in Barquisimeto , for the production of silica
2002 – Opening of the dipping unit – dipped fabrics for tires, in Santo André, SP
2003 – Association to the United Nations Global Compact
2004 – Major enlargement of the phenol and acetone plant in Paulínia. Signature of the Diversity Charter in France
2005 – Signing of a Business Social Responsibility agreement with ICEM, the International Federation of Chemical, Energy, Mine and General Workers' Unions.
2006 – Implementation in Brazil of the largest project in Latin America (and fifth largest in the world) to reduce greenhouse gases, in accordance with the Clean Development Mechanism of the Kyoto Protocol. In the same year, Rhodia becomes the first Latin American company in the chemicals industry to join CCX, the Chicago Climate Exchange (outside the Kyoto mechanisms). Signing of the Worldwide Responsible Care Treaty
2007 – Founding of the Rhodia Institute
2008 –Production begins of eco-friendly solvents in Santo André. Launch of the first intelligent fiber with therapeutic properties
2009 – In the Year of France in Brazil , Rhodia celebrates its 90th anniversary
