A responsible company
With our long-standing culture of safety and history of industrial relations, Rhodia made a commitment to sustainable development early on. Integrated in our management processes, the Rhodia Way corporate social and environmental responsibility policy has been identified as a pillar of our identity.
Responsibility, the basis of our culture
For Rhodia, being a responsible chemical company means managing its environmental, social and economic impacts. We are today among the leading chemical companies worldwide in terms of Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) performance.
From the end of the 1990's, Rhodia was one of the first to commit to sustainable development by investing in the fight against greenhouse gas emissions. In 2002, it decided to go even further and set up a dedicated department, represented on the Board of Directors. A new step was taken in 2007 with the worldwide deployment of the Rhodia Way, which sets out the responsibility commitments to its six stakeholders (customers, employees, environment, investors, communities and suppliers).
Rhodia Way, a 360° commitment

The Rhodia Way aims to drive behavior to comply with the 21 commitments made by Rhodia, divided into 44 good practices. Deployed on every site, it provides each entity with the tools to assess and improve practices, get all employees involved and bring stakeholders into the picture.
Sustainable development as a business driver
Products that meet the challenges of sustainable development today make up over 30 percent of our sales. Rhodia for example produces high-performance silica used in the manufacture of low-energy tires. We has also developed the catalytic additive used to operate particulate filters fitted to two million diesel vehicles. Rhodia is not only working on cleaner and more energy-efficient manufacturing processes, but also on safer and more environmentally-friendly substances that meet the concerns of its customers.
Green chemistry is also an important avenue for R&D.
