Phenol

Phenol

Phenol is present in the composition of various products. It is the basic raw material in the production of polyamide (nylon), which is used for manufacturing textile and industrial yarns, fibers, polymers, and engineering plastics. Phenol can be widely applied in resins used in the casting industry, friction systems, brakes in automobiles and abrasives (sandpaper / grindstones).

Phenolic resins can be also used in the production of decorative and industrial laminated products, plywood for civil construction and furniture manufacturing. Other important use of these resins are phenolic molding powders for the automobile and electro-electronic industries, as joints, sheaves or capacitors for example, and household appliances (irons / pan handles).

Phenol is the raw material used in the production of salicylic acid, which is used in the most popular analgesic and in aromas and fragrances. It is also used for manufacturing industrial detergent and additives for lubricant oils.

Rhodia's phenol unit production has ISO 9000 certification.
