Diphenols & derivatives

Diphenols & derivatives
Diphenols are organic molecules resulting from the controlled oxidation of phenol.
Rhodia produces diphenols (hydroquinone, catechol) and derivatives: guaiacol, veratrole, guetol, ODEB, IBCH, PMP (Paramethoxyphenol), PDMB and TBC (tertio butylcatechol).
These products fully meet the specific needs of the agrochemicals, pharmaceuticals and monomer inhibitors markets.
Thanks to unique synthesis routes, Rhodia also offers leading products for the food, flavor and fragrance industries, such as the Rhodiarome® ethyl-vanillin and Rhovanil® vanillin product ranges.
Rhodia has developed specific environmentally-friendly processes, such as the “green Guaiacol” route, acknowledged as the Best Available Technologies in terms of reduced water and energy consumptions to obtain a chlorine-free vanillin product, with a high purity level.
Rhodia’s products are compliant with the most demanding quality certifications. They guarantee food safety, GMO-free, HACCP conformity, non-allergen, and Kosher or Hallal labels according to customer needs.
Aromas
Rhodia’s products can be used as ingredients or synthesis intermediates for flavor or fragrances. They provide a wide range of olfactive notes: vanilla, floral and fruity notes, sandalwood and coumarin.
Diphenols (vanillin, ethylvanillin) are used in formulations for the food and fragrance industries, and in the manufacture of olfactory notes often added in detergents.
Other products such as cylopentanone are intermediates in perfume synthesis.
Our new Rhovanil®Natural answers the current trend of natural flavorings and agrees with European (EC 88/388) and American (FDA CFR21) regulations for natural status. This new vanillin aroma is obtained by a bio-fermentation process developed by our R&D scientists. Rhovanil® Natural can be used in natural flavoring compounds and in "organic" products.
