Mackalene® 716 has an advantage over quaternary ammonium cationics in that it rinses more readily from the hair and thereby prevents build-up or a "matted" feel.A small amount will provide a soft "silky" feel to the product. Mackalene® 716 is also compatible with anionic surfactants and is recommended as a conditioner for clear shampoos. At low concentrations it provides excellent thickening properties, will improve wet combing and will not significantly depress foam.

When Mackam 1CB is combined with anionic surfactants, it leaves a smooth and silky feel to the hair or skin while also aiding in viscosity building. Mackam 1CB also has the potential to reduce the overall irritation of these types of systems.
