Hyflon® PFA & MFA® for Coatings

Hyflon® PFA & MFA® are semi-crystalline fully-fluorinated melt processable fluoropolymers which offer the highest temperature rating and broadest chemical resistance of all melt processable fluoropolymers. They are an ideal choice for extreme thermal and chemical environments.

Both powders and aqueous dispersion are utilized as coatings to impart several property enhancements to the substrates.

In particular, they provide the following improvements:

  • Chemical and weathering resistance
  • Surface cleanability
  • Moisture repellency
  • Gloss and surface smoothness

Hyflon® PFA & MFA® powder grades are available for electrostatic coating, rotomolding and rotolining processes.

Hyflon® PFA & MFA® aqueous dispersions are available for coatings and impregnation.

Typical methods of coating application include:
  • Spray coating
  • Roller coating
  • Curtain coating

Hyflon® PFA & MFA® are powders and aqueous dispersions utilized as coatings in the Electrical & Electronics, Semiconductors, Food Processing, and Chemical Processing industries.

Hyflon® PFA coatings are used extensively due to their virtually universal chemical resistance even at high temperatures.

Typical applications of Hyflon® PFA & MFA® powders and dispersions include:

  • Protective lining and coatings
  • Release coatings
  • Anti-stick coatings

Protective Linings and Coatings

The virtual universal chemical resistance of Hyflon® PFA coatings even at high temperatures make them ideal for contact with aggressive chemicals and gases. Specific applications include shatter resistant coatings as well as protective linings for pumps, valves, pipes, scrubbing towers, reactors and heat exchangers. Hyflon® PFA powders and aqueous dispersions are widely used as coatings in the electrical, electronics, semiconductor, food processing and chemical processing industries.

Cookware & Industrial Fabrics

Hyflon® PFA/MFA® dispersions are successfully used in anti-stick coating formulations for cookware and bakeware and as top layers in the impregnation process of fabrics and cloth (made of glass fibers or other high temperature resistant fibers) with the aim of improving surface finish and gloss, enhancing rub and abrasion resistance, and providing better weldability in case of heat sealing or lamination processes.
